ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 finale spoilers: Hoping for a cliffhanger?

“Scandal” lives and breathes off of the crazy. You’ve got promos throwing around hashtags and almost begging people to tweet “OMG” moments while watching, and nearly every episode so far this season had ended with one surprise or another. Therefore, how shocked can you really be that there will be some sort of stunner during the season 4 finale? The bigger surprise at this point would be if the final scene was Olivia Pope sitting down for a few minutes to watch the latest episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The entire cast gathered this weekend for a Directors Guild of America panel, which is really code for a chance to appeal themselves to Emmy voters and other awards shows for the upcoming seasons ahead. They talk about the show, their craft, and typically they don’t have to answer too many inane questions in the process that are much more worthy of a tabloid.

Given that this is a Shonda Rhimes show and any spoiler-leaking is probably met with a fate worse than Derek Sherpherd’s, nobody was altogether willing to discuss what exactly will happen during the finale when it airs a week from Thursday. However, context clues from the panel (per Entertainment Weekly) tell us a few things:

1. The word “relentless” was used to describe, which to us means that the pedal probably does not let up the entire hour.

2. Not everything will be tied up, and this potentially leads to something big in the season 5 premiere.

3. While it was not mentioned at the panel, we know already that Command will play a key part in the story. This may finally be the chance for Olivia to take down her father.
