‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11: Ellen Pompeo speaks out for first time on Patrick Dempsey exit

Pompeo -We’ve been waiting for almost the entire weekend to hear for the first time from Ellen Pompeo on the exit of Patrick Dempsey. Now, we have … at least to a certain extent.

In the post on Twitter below, you can see the first comments from Ellen on the exit of her longtime “Grey’s Anatomy” co-star, even though she never mentions him by name. This statement is her more saying that she is excited to see what the next step of Meredith’s journey will be, and she is excited to share that with the fans.

Do we think that Ellen will speak more specifically about Patrick at some point in the future? Most likely, but this is a situation where timing is important. There are still some specific circumstances about his exit that are unclear, but we are hearing that he left on good terms with both Pompeo and creator Shonda Rhimes. The exit may in some ways still feel like a whirlwind, given that this was not seemingly the planned direction for the show at the start of the season. It seemed to come more together earlier this year.

Thursday night’s two-hour episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” will be the funeral for Derek, and the story moving forward is going to be all about how Meredith Grey moves forward and plans a future for her children. She has to be strong in the face of the toughest adversity, but the truth here is that she has faced quite a bit of this in the past already in between the death of her mother and her sister.
