‘Finding Carter’ season 2, episode 4 review: Max / Taylor drama and much more

Finding Carter -There were many themes to Tuesday night’s new episode of “Finding Carter,” but one of them can be summed up in a single word: Acceptance. Everyone wants to feel like they are a part of something larger, and that there is someone else out there who truly has their back above all else.

For one example, take a look at Lori, who is desperately seeking many things, including a chance to stay at an institution instead of jail … and also forgiveness for everything that she has done. Carter does have a certain element of sympathy for her (she called her mom!), but at the same time also knows of her destructive ways. The confusion for Carter here is that she simply does not know who to trust anymore. This is probably what led in part to that kiss with Crash at the end of the episode: She wants to feel something with someone, and at the moment Crash is that someone who is there for her. It doesn’t mean he always will be, but she will take what she can get right now.

The same goes for Taylor and Ofe to a certain extent. She was looking for someone after seeing Max with someone else, and this was all about a moment of jealousy for her. The interesting dynamic here come from Ofe being so open and honest about his own feelings, while she is not doing the same thing. This is not a relationship poised for success, at least not right now.

While the children struggle with matters of the heart, David and Elizabeth are in the same boat. How else do you explain the “we’re trying” arguments to children, while they both at least physically or emotionally consider futures with other people?

This episode was simple enough on paper, but made fascinating by all of its complications underneath the surface. Grade: B+.
