‘Gotham’ episode 20 preview: The Penguin forms a new plan

Throughout the entire first season of “Gotham,” we have come to know Oswald Cobblepot as a very crafty man. He’s a liar, a schemer, and one of the most dangerous men in the city … mostly because he finds a way to convince other people to do crazy things on his behalf just as much as anything he does himself.

So with there only being two episodes left this season, can you really be surprised that the man otherwise known as the Penguin is doing everything in his power to try and kickstart a war? You really shouldn’t be. His plan, as made clear in the sneak sneak peek below, is pretty simple: He wants to ensure that some of the lieutenants to Falcone have the power and the incentive to rise up the ranks. What is one of the ways that this could happen? By making sure that Maroni and some of his men are taken out.

Ultimately, we will be somewhat surprised if the Penguin, Maroni, and Falcone are all still standing by the end of the season. We already know that Fish Mooney will be gone in one way or another, but it feels like you really need to get rid of another body or two to go along with that … at least if you want to further along the journey of Oswald to Gotham’s biggest crime boss. Will this be one step? You have to think so.

Also, be prepared in this episode to see Selina Kyle at a fancy gala with Bruce Wayne, and to see the continued hunt for the Ogre.
