‘American Idol XIV’ results: Was Joey Cook, Rayvon Owen saved from elimination?
This season of “American Idol” just gets stranger and stranger. For a prime example of that, you really do not have to look any further than the results portion of tonight’s new episode.
For the third straight week, Rayvon Owen managed to yet again be spared from elimination, which was a completely bizarre circumstance brought on by the Twitter voting public. Who knew that social media loved this guy so much? He is a great singer, but we thought he would leave tonight over Joey Cook, who was sitting in danger for the first time. While we never thought she would win this season, her quirky energy and sense of individualism will be missed. Also strange tonight? This wasn’t even one of the weirdest parts of the entire episode. We’re going to get to that in another article talking about the whole Quentin Alexander vs. Harry Connick Jr. mess that took place near the end of the installment.
Where this leaves the show moving into next week is fascinating in itself. You have someone in Rayvon who is clearly at the bottom, and yet at the same time, it is very well possible that he could emerge again from another face-off thanks to some of his fans. We could see Tyanna Jones (who had a weak night) or Nick Fradiani facing off against him next. Who knows? Even someone like Jax, who was our favorite going into the live shows, could be in jeopardy.
Hey, at least Rayvon is the surprise victor in these scenarios and he is a good singer. It’d be something much worse if this was a Sanjaya situation we had on our hands.

It is clear that rayvon has created a fan base that knows he will be vulnerable every week where all of the other contestants have a fan base who thinks each week their contestant is safe. Clark, Jax and Nick are my favorite and I would not even know how to vote on twitter for them if they fell into the bottom.
There definitely needs to be a better way.
