TV Quick Hits: ‘Emerald City’ revived; Anna Kendrick on ‘Lip Sync Battle’; Zachary Levi game show coming

NBC -For today’s edition of TV Quick Hits, new shows happen to be the name of the game. We’re talking here somewhat about shows that have yet to air, but we do have another video in here for everyone who is already addicted to the silliness of “Lip Sync Battle.”

NBC revives “Emerald City” – What a weird journey this show has been on. First, the network picked the “Wizard of Oz” adaptation up, only to later decide to nix the project. Now, sources confirm that they are reviving it weeks after also deciding to make “The Wiz” their next live musical over “The Music Man,” which was originally going to be their broadcast later this year. “Emerald City” this time is going to be developed in part by David Schulner, who worked on “Dracula” and many other NBC shows. It has been given a ten-episode order.

Anna Kendrick vs. John Krasinki – “Lip Sync Battle” has turned into gloriously fun entertainment a few weeks in, and Thursday night’s new episode on Spike will feature “Pitch Perfect” star Anna Kendrick (who can actually sing) taking on “The Office” alum John Krasinski (who also happens to be one of the show’s executive producers). Her song choice here is gloriously funny: One Direction’s “Steal My Girl,” which includes a variety of photos of Krasinski’s wife / former contestant Emily Blunt. Well played.

Zachary Levi coming to Syfy – The former “Chuck” star and personal favorite is set to host “Geeks Who Drink,” a pub trivia game show on the aforementioned network. We’ve never been of the “geeks who drink” subset of America, but we’re certainly a geek. Therefore, we’ll at least pay attention to this show whenever it comes out.
