ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4, episode 19 review: Did Amanda Clakre destroy Victoria on air?
If you did not watch Sunday night’s “Revenge” episode “Exposure” thinking that it was going to be a clip show and nothing more, you were proven quickly wrong. While there were a variety of clips and flashbacks through the installment’s hour-long run time, what we also had within every second here was further evidence of how Amanda Clarke is preparing to destroy Victoria Grayson once and for all.
Amanda (we’re now calling her that) decided to go on television in order to give a complete tell-all interview, in which she spent the majority of the time completely chipping away at her public facade. The interesting thing about this was timing. Margaux had at first tried to distance herself from the drama, telling the truth about what happened on the street. However, the TV interview may have changed things, as Margaux decided to do what she could to help her.
Also, tonight’s episode was big for Emily and Jack, as the latter found himself at the center of yet another “go to her” pep talk. Sure, we all know that these two are likely endgame, but how will it happen? There may not be a whole lot of time left to really analyze it. After tonight’s episode, a promo aired (see it here) proclaiming that the “final four episodes” are coming. We don’t know how else we are meant to interpret this other than that the end is near.
For a clip show, though, “Exposure” gave us a whole lot. It reminded us of the central bonds of the series, how Victoria is the chief rival, and how ultimately, it may be hard for this show to have a happy ending. Grade: B.

The episode made me sad…as it seemed a precursor to the end of this series I looked forward to all the time. Yes “end game.” I still would have preferred Amanda with Aiden……and really, when Amanda came upon Jack at the beach….she seemed hurt that he had no clue that she IS Amanda! And the dog recognizing her…. so , for that hurt….how good can Amanda and Jack be? Really….in the flashbacks….the resemblance to the child Amanda and the grown is obvious. But, I’m gonna miss this. A lot.

Great episode. I love how Tom Kingsley acts so whiny over answering for his actions; when he called himself, Bill Harmon, Judge Barnes, and Lydia innocent (or not deserving of their own comeuppances), I can’t help but think this was the writers’ way of saying that Amanda’s targets got what they deserved, stop defending them and demonizing Amanda. I also loved how Amanda did acknowledge what her actions indirectly did to Aiden, Fauxmanda, and Charlotte; it’s like she was telling the haters, “I’m not perfect, I acknowledge that and I regret what has happened to my loved ones”. Only thing missing in that moment was how Conrad and Victoria’s actions were the ones that killed Fauxmanda and Aiden, nearly dragging Charlotte with them.
Any complaints? Technically no, but I must bring up Victoria. She acts like she has nothing to answer for and acts like Amanda ruined her own life when Victoria ruined a little girl’s life. Yes, Victoria DID go Agent McGowan… way back near the end of season 1; it’s three seasons later. What does she do? Remarry Conrad and continue on her merry way, even when Gordon was dead. Yeah the Americon Initiative card can be legitimately played during season 2 in Victoria’s defense, but did she try to clear David’s name when Americon was out of the picture at the beginning of season 3? No, she goes off to ride horses with the son she abandoned when he was a baby and threatens Conrad when he decided to confess early on in season 3 when he thought he was dying. Then she covers up the fact Patrick killed Father Paul by asking Charlotte to be pinned for the crime. She never once came forward about that or the participation in the David Clarke conspiracy when Conrad was exposed. Then, she tries to have David kill his own daughter when she knew who Emily really was. And that’s just the major stuff. The only major thing that Victoria never deserved was being pinned for killing her mother’s boyfriend back in the early 1970s (a shame Amanda did not know the full details of that) and she was justified in killing Helen in season 2 to protect Daniel.
Can’t wait for the next four episodes.
