‘Chicago PD’ season 2 spoilers: New scoop on ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Law & Order: SVU’ crossover

Chicago PD -Just as NBC is slowly releasing news on the upcoming three-part crossover event featuring “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD,” and “Law & Order: SVU,” we are getting details on our end, as well. The biggest thing to note here is that this is a sweeping investigation that will sprawl many cities, and hopefully create some interesting character dynamics as a result.

Yesterday, we shared for you the synopsis for “We Called Her Jellybean,” which is the “Chicago Fire” episode that kicks off the whole thing. We also told you that in addition to its initial airing on March 28, the show is also giving it the 8:00 p.m. timeslot the following day so that fans can watch this as a three-hour event if they really want.

One interesting little schedule note here is that “Chicago PD” and “SVU” are swapping timeslots on the 29th, which is an indication as to how the story is going to flow. This probably makes more sense than going from Chicago to New York and then back to Chicago again. “The Number of Rats” is the title for the “Chicago PD” episode, and you can see the synopsis for that (via SpoilerTV) below:

“Benson (Mariska Hargitay) has traveled into Chicago to help Voight (Jason Beghe) and intelligence with a rape/murder case that is frighteningly similar to a case from New York a decade ago. She calls in Fin (Ice-T) and Amaro (Danny Pino) to assist. The prime suspect, Yates (Dallas Roberts) is let go after rigorous questioning. He then requests a meeting with Lindsay (Sophia Bush) and he warns of unintended consequences from what intelligence is doing.”
