‘Gotham’ episode 19 spoilers: First look at ‘Beasts of Prey’
Let us start here with Fish Mooney, mostly for the reminder here that whatever happens within the next four episodes will lead to her endgame. Jada Pinkett Smith signed up for one season and that’s it; therefore, she is either getting killed off within these final four episodes, or she will be carted off to jail to spend the rest of her days in a cell. Either ending could in theory be compelling; the only thing that definitely is not is what they’ve had this character going through lately. Ever since the Penguin toppled her operation, we’ve had a tough time buying into her story, in particular the notion that she could lead a violent criminal underworld.
Then … we have Harvey Bullock being Harvey Bullock. There’s even less to go on here, but we feel reasonably confident that he is not going anywhere in the near future. Next to Oswald, he is likely the show’s strongest character, a conflicted cop who does have a heart of gold buried underneath all of those layers of cynicism. Here, he seems to be either deducing a crime, or trying to object to what someone is getting him for lunch. Well, we at least like to pretend like it is one of two things.
The final four episodes of “Gotham” pose the challenge of not just of telling these characters’ stories, but also furthering along the tale of Bruce Wayne, and also hopefully giving Selina Kyle and Barbara Keen something compelling to do other then play dress up or drink too much.
