‘Call the Midwife’ season 4, episode 2 preview (PBS): Patsy and Sister Julienne shine

Patsy -Where is the story going from here on “Call the Midwife“? While we have decided to save some more specific teases on next Sunday’s episode until a little later in the week, allow us now to at least present you with a pair of characters you should be very intrigued to learn more about.

Patsy – For those of you clamoring to see more of her story and her life away from the job, you are going to get that opportunity. There was a story for her hinted during season 3 that is explored fully here. While we will not say that it is shocking by any means, it will delight many out there looking to see the show touch on a variety of different issues.

Also, what we will say here is that this story was particularly well-received when it first aired on British television in January.

Sister Julienne – The thing we love about this story is the joy of seeing how the other half lives. Even today, there is a certain element of intrigue that comes from watching the deeply religious and adding the time period element to it helps make sucks us in even more.

What we appreciate most about Julienne is that she is complicated, but not in the way we typically see of men and women of faith on TV. She is not operating out of malice or with some dark, twisted secret; she is delightfully earnest, and her problems stemmed from that.

One last tease to close this off with: This episode won’t be the last time that either one of these two characters shine during season 4.
