The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber: Ranking the roasters pre-show

Comedy Central -Monday night, the waiting is finally going to be over for something that we’ve been waiting over a year now to see: A new Comedy Central Roast. It’s not about Justin Bieber to us; we could care less if it was him or David Hasselhoff or anyone else the network has mocked over the years. We just want the comedy.

So in preparation for the roast of Bieber airing tomorrow night, we’ve done our part to size up the competition, who we think will kill it. Granted, we haven’t seen any of the roast yet and we’ve also tried to avoid some of the previews, so this is us giving you our take fairly spoiler free.

10. Ludacris – No real comedy experience, and is mostly connected to Bieber because of the money they made on “Baby” years ago. Don’t really get why exactly he’s there, but maybe there’s some untapped comedy gold in there.

9. Martha Stewart – Really don’t get why she’s there. We know she didn’t write her own material, but she may tell one or two good jokes and get sniped at the rest of the night.

8. Snoop Dogg – Is there a connection at all between Bieber and Snoop? He was at least fairly funny at the Donald Trump roast, but most of the good material was directed at him. (Go back and listen to Anthony Jeselnik’s portion for one of the funniest lines of the night.)

7. Pete Davidson – We love him on “SNL,” but he has to prove himself here. After all, this is the guy’s first-ever Roast! One thing we do like is that he is roughly the same age as Bieber, so he brings a different perspective.

6. Kevin Hart – Maybe it’s controversial to have Hart ranked this low, but we don’t quite know what to make of him as host of this affair just yet. He’ll probably do better than a lukewarm Seth Rogen from last year, but Seth MacFarlane is still to us the greatest recent roast host by a longshot.

5. Chris D’Elia – We really hope he’s awesome, since we loved “Undateable” and some of the other comedy work we’ve seen him in. As with Pete, though, he’s new to the program.

4. Shaq – Easily the most excited that we’ve been for any “celebrity” roaster in a while. We’re still somewhat clueless about the Bieber connection, but Shaq is a naturally funny guy who also knows how to take a joke. This should be perfect harmony.

3. Hannibal Buress – Our favorite newcomer; we just hope that everyone remembers here that Hannibal was an extremely funny and talented comic long before the Bill Cosby headlines first started to come out.

2. Natasha Leggero – she has a roast under her belt already, and we’ve seen her shock and surprise in many other venues at this point. Leggero has probably told a few Bieber jokes in her career without it even being a roast.

1. Jeff Ross – Sure, he may be a little predictable and some may view him to be over the line, but there’s a reason he has the nickname of Roastmaster General. He is legitimately great at this.
