‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: Are we hearing something more on Felicity’s dad soon?

Given that we had a chance to meet Felicity’s mother on “Arrow” season 3 already, is it possible that an appearance from her dad could be coming up soon? While this is something the show seems hopeful to explore someday, don’t hold your breath about it coming at any point in the reasonably-near future.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the return of Charlotte Ross as Donna Smoak during next week’s new episode, Emily Bett Rickards says that while the mystery man is mentioned, he does not actually turn up or is spoken of in a way that would give you any further information. As for why she turns up in the first place, that is simply an issue of her wanting to be there for her child in a tough time:

“Mom comes back to town to take care of her baby because she hears something is wrong and she wants to help her baby out.”

What could this “something” be? One obvious theory is that she gets shot based on what we saw at the end of this past episode “Suicidal Tendencies.” However, the episode’s synopsis suggests instead that it is Ray Palmer who is badly injured. It is certainly possible that Donna hears about what he is going through, and wants to do her best to offer up support. In the end, it is probably not the best way to meet your girlfriend’s mother if you are Ray, but you take anything that is a big step when it comes to a relationship.
