ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 18 preview: Could Jake Ballard murder Olivia Pope?
Are you ready to see where the story on “Scandal” is going to go from here? Well based on the promo that aired after Thursday night’s new episode, it looks as though Jake Ballard is going to be back … and even more dangerous than ever. It has been a while to see Scott Foley at the center of everything on the show, but that is not going to last next week on “Honor Thy Father.”
If you want to get some other news in terms of what to expect, be sure to take a look at the synopsis below (if you have not seen it already). Somehow, it doesn’t mention Jake at all:
“David tries to recruit former B613 agents to strengthen his case. Meanwhile, a congressman asks Olivia to help his father escape his looming death penalty.”
By the end of this episode, maybe we are going to get a chance to figure out just what the endgame is for B613 this season, and for Jake at the same time. We’ve wondered for a long time that both this character and this organization could have a somewhat-limited shelf life, and we could be seeing some of that in action.
Our personal prediction for this season? As much as we love them, we imagine that either Rowan, Jake, or B613 in general will be gone by the end of this season. Sometimes, you need to make big moves for the sake of entertainment, and you have to wonder how many more stories there are left to tell. (We’d prefer Jake stayed out of the three choices.)

I had called it at the beginning of Season 4 that by seasons end either Jake was going to marry Olivia or Jake was going to exit. Unfortunately, since B613, he has had no purpose on the show other than trying to be Olivia’s boyfriend. This is to blame on the Scandal writers. I still can be entirely wrong though. But the pattern with Olivia, which viewers are now beginning to see, is she uses men as a means of distraction from Fitz. She does not love them. She broke it off with Edison, she’s cooled things with Jake and now she’s moving onto someone else. This is the road that Olivia will continue to travel down until it leads her back to Fitz. Hence the saying “all roads lead to Fitz.” The character of Jake has served his purpose.

I love Jake Ballard, and I don’t like the way things are turning for him. But I’m already expecting the worse, as all of my favorite characters in all Shondaland are always killed off, while others I really don’t care for live to tell the tale. Disappointed again…

Lord I cannot even imagine scandal without Jake. And with the Sally Hemmings story arc back, I definitely need even more Jake screentime.

Please kill off Jake’s pointless character. The writers shoe-horn this BS-13 storyline everywhere. His character just serves whatever wild plot-point the writers dish out and the actor is wooden and expressionless in his role. And worst of all, Jake has no chemistry with Liv. He’s got more heat with Fitz or Huck. This show jumped the shark multiple times with these absurd spy plots. Kill it with fire and lets move onto something less fantasy black-ops, more straight-forward fixing and politics.

Yes, the episodes with little or no Jake are the best because the show focuses on the main premise – Olivia’s handling of crisis not stupid spy nonsense and childish love triangle.
B613 must die along with Rowan and Jake to take the show back to Season 1 and 2 quality.

Love love Jake Ballard character and I just don’t know if I will watch if he’s killed off. He’s so pretty to look at and he added so much sexy to the show.

I would much rather see Jake’s character continue, either with or without Liv as his love, make him a bad guy, whatever, sorry I’m shallow but I do like the eye candy. Rather than continue with Liv and the Pres making twitchy eyes at each other for another season. That relationship has to go, be killed and stomped on— just tired, tired, tired of it. If they continue as goo-goo eye lovers, I’m gone.

I’m a total Jake fan. I became obsessed when he joined the cast in S2 as a guest star. i don’t know if I could watch if they killed my sexy Jake off.
