‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: George R.R. Martin expects many different endings

Take a look -While there may be quite a few common bonds that exist between “Game of Thrones” the HBO series and A Song of Ice and Fire the book series, one very distinct different that we can point out at this very moment is this: They’re not going to end the same way. How could they? Just think about the near-impossible task George R.R. Martin and the showrunners have of wrapping things up. Ending a book is completely different from ending the show, and one has so many more characters and stories to address.

With that being said, Martin tells TV Guide that although the two are in many ways going to deviate, he also stresses that the general themes of the endings for both will be about the same:

“I think their endgame will be the same in broad strokes, but it will be very different in an enormous amount of detail … We’ve discussed the ultimate ending of the book and the fate of many of the major characters. But as you know, there are many, many secondary characters, tertiary characters. I haven’t sat down with [David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and done a list of the top 150 characters and what’s going to happen to them in [the] books, so in some cases, the fates are going to be quite different.”

By the end of season 5, we should see a few more of these deviations in action, and that could increase almost exponentially in season 6. After all, Benioff and Weiss will be going more then on information that has not even been released to the general public at the time in which they are filming.
