‘The Fosters’ season 3: Creator responds to Jake T. Austin exit

The Fosters -By this time, hopefully some fans of “The Fosters” have started to let the shocking news settle in that Jake T. Austin is no longer a part of the show. The actor made the announcement himself Monday night after the finale, which in some ways led to an easy conclusion that Jesus must not make it through the car accident at the end of the season 2 finale alive.

Is that part necessarily confirmed? Not exactly. In a post on Twitter (see below), executive producer Bradley Bredeweg makes it fairly clear that “not everything is what it seems”; however, he did confirm that Jake is in fact leaving the show. With this in mind, maybe we shouldn’t assume the worst for Jesus? It’s hard to say, but either way he is not going to be a part of the show anymore.

What we do know with certainty is that reaction to the finale was very loud, with many feeling like the show ended on an emotionally devastating note, and that they could have done a little bit more in order to soften the blow, or at least not left everyone on such a huge cliffhanger. With that being said, we do imagine that this same cliffhanger is going to be extremely effective at convincing people to watch when the series does return to ABC Family this summer. It has, after all, already been renewed.

The only other thing that we can see based on Bredeweg’s tweet is that it seems like it was ultimately Austin’s decision to leave. Maybe he just wanted to try something different in his career after doing shows that are catered mostly to younger audiences.
