‘American Idol XIV’: Jax, Qaasim Middleton, Clark Beckham, more sing National Anthem at Sprint Cup race

American Idol -We’re still not entirely sure what to make of this bizarre relationship between “American Idol” and NASCAR. After all, what do the two really have in common, if anything at all? The only thing really is that they both air on Fox. Still, we saw an appearance by Jeff Gordon on the singing show Thursday, where he “invited” the remaining contestants to come out and perform the National Anthem at a race this weekend in nearby Fontana. Of course, this was somewhat hilarious, given the fact that they probably all knew about this in advance.

Well, the performance happened earlier today, and you can check it out in the video below. for the most part, this is a very solid rendition of the anthem, but we do have to remind you still that it is very darn hard to deliver a monster performance when you also have so many different people all performing at the same time. You have to pitch it just right to ensure that everyone sounds great in the end.

Of course, many of these singers will get chances in the future to perform the anthem at many an occasion. This typically is one of the most sought-after gigs for someone who appears on this show after the fact. What’s the reason for that? It is really as simple as that while not every contestant on the show has the artistry needed to become a huge star, the majority of them at least do have a pretty awesome voice. By and large, this is the most important thing for the anthem.
