‘The Walking Dead’ season 5, episode 14: Tyler James Williams on Noah shock

The Walking DeadTonight, “The Walking Dead” brought a heck of a lot to the table, and it also brought a series of deaths to go along with. Maybe you saw some of them coming, but it does not lessen their impact completely.

For example, let’s talk Noah for a minute. This character was not always beloved, given that many can link both the deaths of Tyreese and Beth to his existence on his show. However, he was a pretty nice guy at the end of the day, and what he did bring to the show was friendship for Glenn. That is what makes his somewhat-needless death during a supply run especially said.

So what matters most about the character departing? It could be some of his final words, based on what Tyler James Williams had to say to The Hollywood Reporter about the subject, and if his character went out in a positive manner:

“I think in a way he did [die in a heroic way]. Noah’s last words did not have to do with that situation; he was not saying, ‘Don’t let go of me,’ he was saying, ‘Don’t let go of your humanity.’ Glenn has become the moral fiber for the group and Noah had come to the conclusion that too many people in this family had died around his introduction. This guy wasn’t yet in the family yet and he made the decision that if anyone in this family is going to go, it’s going to be him. And that’s what happened. In that way, he did die somewhat of a hero, mainly because no one else was going to die for him.”
