‘American Idol XIV’ spoilers: Theme for Qaasim Middleton, Loren Lott, remaining contestants

American Idol -Tonight, “American Idol XIV” narrowed down its field of remaining contestants to 16, and by this time next week, we are going to be at just twelve. These are the ones who will take part in the final stage of the competition.

Of course, due to the new system of voting, there are technically only going to be twelve contenders who even take to the microphone next week, and we know know the theme. According to a new report from TVLine, the remaining contestants (which could include the likes of Qaasim Middleton, Nick Fradiani, Loren Lott, and Jax) are going to perform their audition songs all over again. This is a chance to see how far these singers have come. It’s an interesting idea in some ways, but we’d be lying if we said that we were completely crazy about the theme. We actually rather hate it. Why in the world would you take away a week of original performances so early in the competition? Audition reduxes are something that is great for the top 5 or a stage when you’ve really gotten to see the development of each artist.

There are a few other twists and turns that you should be prepared for over the coming weeks. On Wednesday, the show will announce the ten artists who received the most votes, and they will perform again for the public. The judges will choose the final two. The contestants will perform again on Thursday, and the field will be narrowed down then to eleven. We imagine that there is another theme of songs for that night, which is probably why we’re getting repeats the day before.

Hopefully, the show will bust out a few more surprises along the way. The show will take on a weekly format come Thursday, March 19.
