‘Criminal Minds’ season 10 will write in Jennifer Love Hewitt pregnancy; what about AJ Cook?

Any time that an actress on a hit TV announces that she is expecting a child, there is one question that comes along with that: Will the pregnancy be written in? One of the reasons why a show would go in that direction is that it makes things easier production-wise; otherwise, you have to hide the pregnancy using either camera angles or very large bags. Kerry Washington on “Scandal” last season is a classic example of that. Another reason is that it makes sense for the story.

It may be for both of these reasons that the CBS crime drama has decided to write in Jennifer Love Hewitt’s second pregnancy with Brian Hallisay. Speaking to TV Guide, showrunner Erica Messer reveals that Kate’s niece Meg is the one who first starts to make this news clear, as her behavior is reflective of the fact that she is no longer going to be the one person Kate and Chris are caring for anymore:

“She’s been acting out a little bit, and we reveal … it’s because Kate is gonna have a baby … The fact that she and Chris decide to have a baby rocks Meg a little bit. Even though she’s been raised by amazing people, there’s an underlying abandonment since her parents were killed when she was very young. She’s trying to deal with that and being 13 and navigate the world and see her place in it.”

There is not word just yet about whether or not fellow star AJ Cook’s pregnancy will be written into the show. Hewitt is seemingly further along in hers, so there may not be a pressing need to write in JJ’s for the time being. So much of these reveals has to do mostly with timing above all else.
