‘Gotham’ spoilers: Robin Lord Taylor on idea of Penguin vs. Joker

We are through the majority of “Gotham” season 1 so far, and due to that, we’ve had a really wonderful opportunity to see all sorts of great stories. At the center of many of them has been the man otherwise known as Oswald Cobblepot. He started off the show as an underling working within Fish Mooney’s organization. Then, he was almost killed by Jim Gordon, had to work his way back to the city, and has since climbed his way back up the latter. While he’s not the most powerful man in the city at the moment, he has managed to build a pretty good infrastructure for his future.

So what chaos could come his way soon? With the show hinting that we are going to see and more of the Joker mythology coming up, this is something you really should be watching out for. Robin Lord Taylor seems to agree, telling The Hollywood Reporter the following on what such a showdown would look like:

“I think Oswald will fully accept the challenge. I think having someone else on the scene trying to take over, it’ll be another thing he’ll have to navigate and figure out. If and when the Joker arrives, that’s a personality that’ll be so difficult for him to manipulate in the way he’s been doing with everyone else. That’d be so amazing to play, for Oswald to find himself on such shaking ground. I think it’ll be incredible fun.”

With this being said, we do hope that this battle is still a ways away. These two are supremely great characters, but we want to see the story continue to build and progress for a while first.
