‘Shameless’ season 5 spoilers: Emmy Rossum on Fiona’s honesty

There is some good news coming up for fans of “Shameless“: Fiona is going to show a little bit of evolution as a character. The twist? Let’s just say that there are probably some better ways in which she could manifest some of her emotions.

Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Emmy Rossum teases that Fiona is actually going to come clean with Gus when it comes to cheating on him with the returning Jimmy/Steve. The problem is simple: Cheating is still cheating, and being honest about it does not exactly wash away the act itself. She better be prepared for quite a few pieces of drama as a result of all this:

“We’ll see her deal with the ramifications of her increasingly bad decision making … She’ll confess to her husband, but that won’t go so well for her. But she’s actually trying to be honest, and it’s new for her. There’s definitely growth, but not making the mistake in the first place would be better.”

Given that we are only at the halfway point of the season at the moment, we do think that there are plenty of opportunities for things to be shaken up and different from how they’ve been. Therefore, we would expect to stay tuned, as we will have more updates when it comes to these characters soon enough. For now, let’s just say that Sunday night’s new episode could be a turning point for the characters.
