‘The Good Wife’ season 6 spoilers: Prepare for more Ed Asner

The Good Wife -When “The Good Wife” returns to CBS on Sunday night with new episodes, one of the things that you can expect to see a guest appearance from the legendary Ed Asner in a role that could be essential to Alicia Florrick’s future, at least in her campaign to be State’s Attorney: He is Guy Redmayne, a wealthy potential donor who could be a valuable asset to her.

We admit that when we first heard of his appearance and his role, it was very easy to just write this off as a one-episode spot. After all, this does tend to be the way these guest appearances work for “campaign donor” roles! If they make a decision to give money, there is typically not much else of a use for them.

With that being said, we really should have known better. “The Good Wife” is notorious for bringing back popular guest stars over and over again. Just look at Carrie Preston, Michael J. Fox, Dylan Baker, or David Hyde Pierce this season. They always tend to make the most of the big stars who want to appear.

Speaking per E! News, executive producers Robert and Michelle King confirm that Asner will at least appear in one more episode later this season. Asner has does a wide array of roles over the past several years, though our favorite recent ones probably include “Royal Pains” and “Hawaii Five-0.” The man may be 85 years old, but he still is working like nobody’s business (or at least like nobody other than Betty White).
