See ‘American Idol XIV’ castoffs Jess Lamb, Hollywood Anderson perform ‘My Best Friend’
The past couple of weeks of “American Idol” have seen some success stories, but there have also been a few stunners in there, as well. While we don’t think that his run in Hollywood Week was perfect by any means, we thought that the strength of Hollywood Anderson’s audition, arguably the best of the entire season, would still propel him to the next round. Meanwhile, Jess Lamb was stellar throughout, and the show did her terribly wrong by not even justifying sending her home.
So for those of you who are particular bummed out about these two being sent home, hopefully the video below is a nice little button on their musical journey for the time being. You can see the two team up for a performance of Hollywood’s audition song “My Best Friend” at local Cincinnati hotspot Japps, and it’s pretty moving despite the background commotion. What we feel is most important about this performance is largely that these are people still on the grind, and love making music for music’s sake.
Will these two get another shot at the show someday? They are certainly eligible for it, but it’s ultimately pretty hard to say given what producers want at times is so arbitrary. How else do you explain David Oliver Willis auditioning so many years, or Candice Glover or Pia Toscano not getting through for a few years? This stuff just tends to happen, and ultimately, it is always best to take your future into your own hands.
We’re just happy to see these two in particular doing that.
