‘Doctor Who’ season 9 spoilers: Michelle Gomez returning as ‘Missy’

For all of you out there hoping to see more of Michelle Gomez on “Doctor Who,” there is no need to even sit around and patiently wait for good news anymore: It has been confirmed now that the actress will be making her grand return to the show for the season 9 premiere.

While details are not entirely clear about just what Missy will be bringing to the table this time, the big thing to remember here is that she is the Master. Therefore, there are few others out there who are such a threat to The Doctor (Peter Capaldi). Gomez’s debut was met with great acclaim for many reasons during the latter episodes of season 8; she was a perfect cast, and as a female incarnation of the Master character, she does offer up the tiniest bit of hope that maybe someday there could be a female Doctor. (With that being said, we really only want to see it if there is the right actor, sort of similar to this situation and Gomez.)

Filming is underway on the ninth season already in the United Kingdom, which is going to air on the BBC with the same exact sort of schedule as last year. The great thing is that there is so much mystery around the majority of the episodes. Save for Gomez, the series is being very tight-lipped about the majority of the guest stars.

Hopefully, the door here will be left open for at least one more appearance following this in the not-too-distant future.
