‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 8 spoilers: Is a massive time jump ahead?

Mad Men -The final seven episodes of “Mad Men” are just about upon us, and it definitely feels here as though times are changing … and in a very big way. AMC has started to release some of their latest promotional material for the show, and it includes everything from promos to photos to so much more.

After watching the latest promo, the question that we have is simple enough: Are we about to be hit with a major time jump? It’s a worthwhile question when you think about it for a moment. The late 1960s was the setting for the last batch of new episodes, but the promo below is set to the Diana Ross song “Love Hangover,” which really did not start to become popular until 1976. Is this a sign that the show is jumping forward that far? There are certainly some wild fashions in here, and Pete Campbell’s hairline certainly suggests that the character has aged a good bit since the beginning of the show. (Vincent Kartheiser is one of the few actors actually given a receding hairline for TV.)

Now, we’ve come to learn time and time again that “Mad Men” promos are not always to be trusted, and the song choice here may be a red herring. We’re sure that there is at least some sort of time jump, but it could be a much smaller one. Given how much of the show has been set in the 1960s, Matthew Weiner may not want to move that far away from that.

What do you think about the promo, and do you think it’s a mistake to make too many judgments about it? Share below, and head over here to get some other new photos from the season! Also, sign up right now to acquire some other TV news on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: AMC.)
