‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: Mark Harmon’s Gibbs lends a helping hand
We knew very well already that Agent Gibbs can be a caring guy, but through the upcoming “NCIS” episode “Cabin Fever” airing a week from Tuesday, what we are going to see is a story that is all about just what exactly he is willing to do in order to ensure that Fornell helps to heal. This is a man who has definitely been through quite a lot as of late, especially when it comes to Diane’s murder.
What is particularly interesting about this episode is mostly what Gibbs is letting himself not be a part of in order to take part in this. For some additional updates on that, take a look at the synopsis below:
“The NCIS team suspects Gibbs’ arch-nemesis is behind an explosion at a summit for global terror event, but Gibbs elects to sit out the investigation in order to help a grief-stricken Fornell, whose life is on the verge of imploding following his wife’s murder.”
This episode is hopefully going to be a chance for Mark Harmon to give a great individual performance, which is something that he has not always had chances to do this season. We know this show can do action sequences; we’ve seen that happen so many times over the years that we have started to become a little numb to it at this point. This is why the personal, emotional episodes really tend to get to us more than anything else.
What do you think about this episode in theory, and are you glad to see that the show is addressing what happened to Diane so quickly? I’m looking forward to this episode too. I enjoy Spano and Harmon together although I’m sure that this episode will be pretty emotional.

I couldn’t agree with you more, Cartermatt. Mark Harmon is such a great actor in those close up and personal, emotional moments, but we only see them in glimpses. True, he has been a presence in season 12 episodes in in-charge, action moments from Twenty Klicks on, but it’s time to see more than a glimpse of the emotional side. To make the anticipation even better, it will this time be with Fornell. Mark and Joe Spano have shined together since Yankee White. Although we usually see humor in their scenes, which Mark Harmon also does so very well (and for which he is underrated), the absence of that humor this time makes it all the more poignant. I have very high expectations for Cabin Fever. I hope they truly give the time needed to allow these emotions to show, develop, and for healing to begin. Overall, I am impressed with the writing in the 12th season and also with the versatility as an actor that Mark Harmon shows within the framework of the same character. Time now to let that versatility show a bit more.

I’m so looking forward to this episode. Mark’s a brilliant actor. Intense scenes are his thing. I really enjoy the bond between Gibbs and Fornell. I hope we will get to see all the emotions of all involved people’s. I’m excited to see how the team will react to Gibbs’ decision and can’t wait to see DiNozzo taking the lead (hopefully). Tony has grown so much just like the rest of the team. I also hope that we’ll get hints about Jimmy, Breena and of course little Victoria and how they handle being new parents. But I’m glad they address the loss of Diane and how Fornell and especially Emily deal with it.
