‘Suits’ season 4, episode 12 review: Stephen, Gabriel Macht share valuable time
Wednesday night’s new episode of “Suits” brought the return of Professor Gerard, and we have to say, this may be one of the best father / son dynamics out there. While Gabriel Macht and his father Stephen are not related on the show, the reason we want to see more of them is because their chemistry is so palpable. Gerard is a man with beyond-questionable ethics (ironic, given his profession), and for some reason, Harvey still ignored every warning within him and still decided to lend some sort of a helping hand.
With all of this being said, it may still be Mike who ends up suffering the consequences of Gerard more than Harvey, judging from his paranoia at the end that the professor figured him out. The way that this was written was fairly brilliant; this could just be Mike being paranoid, but at the same time, it could easily blossom out and becoming so much more, and a genuine reason to worry.
Also on Harvey’s plate tonight was a decision about giving Louis a client, and then watching the aftermath unfold as Louis managed to somehow mess that up catastrophically. If it wasn’t for Rachel bailing him out, he would be in terrible trouble … and he barely thanked Rachel for it as a result.
Really, the reparation of Louis as a character should be an interesting theme of the season. His tirade to Jeff was in a way a setup so that he could join forces with Jessica, and in turn, she probably benefits from getting her boyfriend away from the firm and from Mike’s secret at some point. She can only keep things covered up for so long.
Our only critique this week? Not enough Donna. We feel like we say that a good bit, but we really felt her absence this time around. Grade: A-.
