ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 11 preview: Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn, and a quest for hope
Tonight, we had a new episode of “Scandal” that was dramatic, trippy, and also cerebral at the same time. what we ultimately took away from this above all else, though, is rather simple: Olivia Pope is in a bad place. She’s hallucinating for one, and struggling to make sense of whether or not she can escape her present prison.
During one of these said hallucinations, Olivia heard from Abby (i.e. part of her own consciousness) that she really needs to be her own hero, and not rely at all on what someone else tries to do for her. These are wise words, and ones that will form the center of next week’s new episode. “Where’s the Black Lady?” is still a weird name, but we are not going to spend too much time on that. Instead, take a look at the official synopsis, just in case you have not seen it already:
“With Olivia still missing, the team comes together to do whatever it takes to find her and get her home safely.”
The promo below is pretty horrifying, mostly because it makes one thing terribly clear: Olivia is not in a better position now than she was at the start of tonight’s episode. Instead, she will be stuck on television, forced to repeat the message about the United States potentially going to war. It’s an impossible situation for her, and this in turn will lead to a few impossible situations for Fitz, and many other characters in the cast to go along with it.
