‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert’s album title, more on Phillip Phillips saga

Adam -It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve done an “American Idol” notes article, but with there being so many different headlines out there right now, doesn’t this seem like a good time to bring it back?

Adam Lambert’s new album title – “The Original High.” This was confirmed by the season 8 star / recent guest judge on Twitter this week (see below), along with a reminder that the whole album was executive-produced by Max Martin and Shellback. The first single should be coming out in April. If we were you, we’d feel pretty excited about this. Adam and Martin have collaborated before to great success, and “Trespassing” was a wonderful / underrated album.

Adam is currently on tour with Queen across Europe, but hopefully he’ll be back later this spring in North America in an attempt to do some further promo for his new music.

Who agrees with Phillip Phillips? – We were curious who was going to be the first other “American Idol” alum to claim mistreatment after Phillip sued 19 Entertainment earlier this week, and now we know: Season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis. Speaking per “The Insider,” we actually feel like his comments here are pretty fascinating:

“I never had a day to day manager … I had one of the main people who tried to manage the whole entire company. I could never even get a hold of my manager sometimes.”

We do feel like this is ultimately a pretty complicated situation, and not necessarily one with a simple answer. Do we feel like some former contestants felt like 19 wasn’t giving them the best direction? Sure, and it may be true. We feel like the only thing that can be done here is greater transparency when artists join the show about what they are getting themselves into. The show will help your career, but there are some strings attached, as well.
