‘Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen’ finale: George Pagonis, Doug Adams compete for final place
Is it possible that both George Pagonis and Doug Adams won “Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen“? We wondered that for a minute after seeing that there were still three episodes left this season on the main season, and that would get us down to three again for the finale.
However, that doesn’t seem to be the case, since the title for the finale suggests that there will only be two competing. Therefore, it’s likely that one of these guys emerged the victor out of their final competition in Mexico in front of not only Tom Colicchio, but the other contestants. The challenge was simple: Make something using either clams or octopus, which George struggled with at times during the competition proper. Doug made the choice to clams, knowing the George just had a bad day on the latter. He also works out of Oregon, so he’s familiar with this ingredient more than some of the others.
Is it somewhat frustrating that we have to wait until Wednesday night to see the results? Sure, but we actually feel like it is fairly obvious to us that Doug is the winner. They did not show any problem with his dish at all, while Doug commented in one confessional that George’s clams could be a little overcooked.
Plus, the editors have set us up to think that Doug is more of a contender, since he has been set up as driven and extremely likable throughout. George has gotten a good edit, but not on the same level. Regardless, he has something to be proud of. He had a rough elimination right out of the gate, but came back and managed to perform very well in some of the challenges.
It’s hard to really rate this episode without a winner, so let’s just give it a To Be Determined.
