‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ finale: Is Jessica Lange leaving?

Is the end here officially for Jessica Lange on “American Horror Story: Freak Show“? This is something that was speculated about early this season, mostly because the actress herself said that she wanted to move on at the end of the season. Since that point, we have gotten a sense that Ryan Murphy and others involved have been working to convince her to change her mind. She is obviously an accomplished actress and has won many awards for the show, but sooner or later, it’s understandable if you want to move forward to something different.

While Lange’s status was not directly addressed on the finale itself, there were some signs that made the episode feel like it was sending off both the actress and also the character, with her being transported to the land of the dead freak-show performers, and started to perform right as the show came to a close.

After the series aired on the East Coast, we feel like Murphy only added to the speculation by posted the cryptic message below on his Twitter. This does not necessarily mean anything, but it is easy to read this as a sign that he is thanking her for everything that she did, and not for what she will continue to do.

We figure that this will probably be cleared up over the coming days, at least in that if Lange is done, there is no reason to continue to keep that a secret. The show will want to move on to other things, and that includes finding other people to be excited about.
