‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: First look at James Spader in Super Bowl episode

The Blacklist logo any season“The Blacklist” has not been on the air for a little while now, but the show is gearing up for something huge come Sunday, February 1 after the SuperBowl: “Luther Braxton” is the name of the episode, and this first photo certainly shows James Spader looking badass as Raymond Reddington.

The story behind this episode is still somewhat surrounded in mystery, but here are a few of the details we are aware of. Ron Perlman will be guest-starring as the Big Bad, the story here will not be too tied into anything that happened in the first half of the season. The goal is to ensure that people watching for the first time will enjoy the show, and then properly become hooked to the point where they continue watching.

Also, this story will take place over two episodes, which is very well one of the smartest things the show could have done. This ensures that there is an added incentive for all of these new viewers to actually stay put.

Ultimately, we just hope that it is good. There have been a ton of Super Bowl episodes we’ve seen over the past decade that try too hard to capture all of the ratings of the big game using gimmicks and other silly things, and they don’t actually hold interest or represent the show well. We feel like even “New Girl” last year struggled with this due to having Prince on board.
