‘American Idol XIV’ video: Ryan Seacrest introduces you to top 24 … sort of

The new season of “American Idol” is premiering on Fox come January 7, but why wait this long at all to get some of the first information on the top 24 contestants?

The twist for this season is still a very big one. For the first time ever, Fox is actually giving you a tease of the contestants competing for the title a little bit early. They are just doing it in a very interesting way. Rather than allowing you to see the competitors, they are allowing you to hear their voices, see their shadows, and ultimately figure out what in the world they think about them.

Overall, we feel like this sounds like a very talented bunch, but you have to remember that they probably had the benefit here of practicing this, preparing their blend, and so much more. We’ll see how they all sound when they are all on the stage performing during a live show.

Do we like the twist as a whole? Overall, we enjoy it a whole lot more than we originally thought that we would. Our biggest fear was just that this was going to be hokey, and that it would give away potential contestants. With that being said, we don’t feel like it will. The only people who are going to watch this so closely to match shadows up with people are probably the same people who are going to be on the internet, looking up spoilers in the first place.
