‘Doctor Who’ season 9 spoilers: Premiere title, plus possible details

Doctor Who -Even though the “Doctor Who” season 8 Christmas Special has still not aired on BBC One, that is clearly not stopping some other assorted details related to the series from coming to light.

What is one of those specifically? The title for the first episode! Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the name for this installment is “The Magician’s Apprentice,” which does further beg the question as to whether or not we are going to see Jenna Coleman on the show anymore as Clara. It would be the perfect title for the introduction of a new companion, after all.

What we heard most recently, though, was that Coleman was opting to return for at least the start of the new season, but this has not been confirmed by the BBC. Of course, the network is not saying much, nor do they need to.

What we do know is that Steven Moffat plans to further explore the relationship between his primary characters, regardless of who is in the roles. Speaking on the subject to SFX, he explained with the following:

“We took the Doctor/companion relationship to a place that’s much more real, much more damaging and with more consequences. And whoever the companion is, you want to continue that idea. It can be a thrilling, exciting relationship but actually it can be a dangerous one too.”

The new season of “Doctor Who” will be in production next year, and we almost expect it to premiere around the same time next fall. As for how in the world Moffat is able to do this and prepare for new “Sherlock” episodes … well, thank Mark Gatiss and Sue Vertue for that.

Stay tuned, as we’ll have more on Coleman’s future and so much more as it comes out! Also, be sure to sign up right away for some further TV scoop on all we cover courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: BBC.)
