‘The Mentalist’ season 7, episode 4 preview: Who makes Abbott who he is

Want to see the softer side of Abbott on “The Mentalist”? Then Sunday night’s new episode “Black Market” is going to be very happy to oblige. The sneak peek video below gives you a better idea of what to expect, and it looks as a whole like this is going to be a pretty entertaining storyline for him.

In this video, you can see the character celebrating with his wife, who is moving up the ranks within the Department of Commerce. Obviously, he is very thrilled about this, and far more affectionate than we see him even remotely be towards anyone else (even on a friendly level).

Unfortunately, this is not a show where everyone just gets what they want without any sort of hurdles, and there are some further challenges still that Abbott is going to need to confront. Specifically here, we are talking about how he has to contend with some demons that are in his past, and could stop her from getting everything that she wants.

Obviously, what makes this story so interesting is that Abbott is a man who has prided himself on being just about as lawful an individual as possible. Therefore, finding out that he has some moments where he is not-so-lawful makes him a little more interesting, and also complicated. We wonder if this is going to change anything about the way he conducts himself, or acts around Jane, Lisbon, or any other member of the cast in the event they get really involved.
