‘The Bachelor’ spotlight: Will Jillian Anderson get the scoop on Chris Soules?

Jillian -Contestants on “The Bachelor” tend to come from all walks of life and from a variety of different professions, and this is what makes Jillian Anderson an interesting contender. It was also reasonably tough to get information her, given the majority of search results tend to lead to either Gillian Anderson from “The X-Files” or Jillian Michaels.

Still, we at least know a little bit of her professional history, and whether or not that will make her a solid contender for Chris Soules’ heart at the end of the day. We do hope she lasts for at least a few episodes, mostly because she could bring a different perspective to the show. (Don’t worry; this is a spoiler-free zone.)

Age – 25

Hometown – Washington DC. Nothing too notable here, since there’s no real connection between the city and Chris.

Occupation – News producer. She has worked at Fox News in DC, and is also a former cheerleader for the Washington football franchise. Two very different things, seemingly. Still, her career shows that she is already deep into the professional world, and that raises the question: Would she be happy with the news environment in Iowa? Outside of the Ames straw poll and a caucus, the state’s not really a hotbed for much else.

Bio highlights – The one thing that kind of shocked us was that she listed being on the show as her “most embarrassing moment,” even though we’re pretty sure no one is forcing her to be on it. Sure, there is a certain part of this experience that is incredibly awkward, but it’s kind of a weird answer to suggest that you are embarrassed about being a contestant.

Positives – To be where she is at an early age professionally, she has to be pretty driven. Also, she is probably not on the show for fame; while cheerleaders sometimes get that distinction, we cannot think of a single reason why this show would help you in the professional news world.

Negatives – We don’t know where Chris falls politically, but if Jillian has strong views that clash with his, that could be a pretty easy reason to not get serious. Also, there is the issue of the job. Even if Chris chooses not to live full-time in Arlington (a pretty good distance from any major city), there are only a few within the state that may have what she is looking for business-wise.

Prediction – Jillian probably won’t last long. We see her having some hokey introduction using either cheerleading or being in the news, and we could also see her having a hard time letting her guard down. Maybe she makes it past the first night, but she’s gone before the show leaves California.
