‘NCIS’ season 12, episode 10 video: Is McGee leaving, or merely confessing?

Could “NCIS” really be losing one of its main characters? While the promo below may give you a reason to wonder about this subject, we still feel pretty confident about one thing: There is not much to worry about.

In the video below, you can see some of what we are looking at when it comes to “House Rules,” the winter finale Tuesday with the potential to be very emotional. At the very end of it, you see Sean Murray’s character saying “I just want to thank you, for everything.”

While we cannot confirm anything officially, we’d be very surprised if McGee is going anywhere. Murray is still under contract for one, and also, the idea of letting go of a longtime regular during a Christmas episode would be terribly depressing.

We see the quote above being more of a reference to the story at the center of the episode, which is McGee penning a heartfelt letter to his dad. We learned seasons ago that McGee’s father was diagnosed with cancer, and this could be his way of telling him how much he cares before it is too late. Gibbs is in a way been another father figure to him, and through the context of Gibbs’ rules, he may be thinking about his own father.

While we hope for some happy moments during this hour, we would recommend getting out your tissues for this one. Given that we just lost Ralph Waite last year, this is probably even more difficult than it otherwise would be.
