‘Girls’ season 4 spoilers: See Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, paint in latest promo

As a way to lead into the premiere of “Girls” coming up on Sunday, January 11, HBO has given us something else to watch and enjoy: The newest promo for the show!

So what do we make of this? First and foremost, it highlights a few important things that we did not know beforehand. For example, are Ray and Shoshanna getting back together? It at least looks as though these two are going to be at least starting to talk things out, and Shoshanna actually doesn’t seem that upset that he had an intimate relationship with Marnie. We figure that one of the real reasons for this may just be that she never was that fond of Marnie in the first place.

Also, get ready to see more of Adam’s sister on the show! Personally, we are going to have a chance to see more of his sister, which is probably now good news for Lena Dunham’s character. This is a woman who may love, but also seems intent on getting involved, and causing problems at almost every turn.

What isn’t in the promo, and what will not be judged until the new season premieres, is if season 4 can really get back to what the show does best: Challenging the notions of what is a standard 30-minute comedy. We feel like season 3 at times made its characters too unlikable, and then also steered clear of some of the brilliant, challenging storytelling that they tried to pull off in season 2.
