‘American Idol XIV’ video: Harry Connick Jr., Adam Lambert in latest promo

American Idol XIV -While you still have a little ways to wait in order to see the premiere of “American Idol XIV” this January, there is one thing that you don’t have to wait at all for at this very moment: The latest promo released by Fox!

If you look below, you can effectively see what is the latest round of shenanigans featuring the judging panel, though mostly here Harry Connick Jr., whose name is in the promo’s title. He at one point agrees to race a contestant inside the audition room, and at another point he ends up giving a contestant $100 for knowing the real title to the Frank Sinatra song commonly referred to as “Fly Me to the Moon.”

This video also offers up one of the first chances that we’ve had to see Adam Lambert in action as a part of the judges’ panel for the New York area. Given that this promo is all about Harry, there aren’t many actual highlights of his shown other than him reacting to something that Harry does. In case you missed it, Adam jumped on board as a guest judge after Keith Urban flew to Australia to help Nicole Kidman with a family tragedy.

We are big Harry fans, and for the most part, we also really dug the panel of judges on the show last season. Our bigger complaint was more with the contestants, and potentially the structure that never really encouraged many of them to take risks. It takes us more than a second or two to remember anyone beyond Caleb Johnson and Jena Irene, and that is a pretty big problem.
