ABC News books Darren Wilson interview, will air on ‘World News,’ ‘Nightline’

It could happen -Less than 24 hours after networks broke into primetime programming to bring you a verdict by a grand jury in Missouri over the death of Michael Brown, ABC News has booked an interview with the man who was not ultimately indicted over his shooting.

George Stephanopoulos will sit down with police officer Darren Wilson, whose actions have ignited a country and sparked protests from city to city, in a far-reaching interview that is going to air in part on ABC World News tonight, along with “Nightline” later tonight and also “Good Morning America” tomorrow. The reaction to this interview is probably going to be somewhat enormous, given that there will be many who question whether or not he should be speaking at all right now given the timing.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Stephanopoulos claimed in discussing the interview that Wilson “did say that he was sorry for the loss of life but he would not do anything different that day. He said he did what he was trained to do. He did his job. He says he has a clean conscience over his actions that day even though he’s sorry for the loss of life.” Wilson also added that race was not a contributing factor in why he decided to shoot Brown.

This is not a story that is particularly of the sort that we cover at CarterMatt, since we tend to focus our articles more on the fun side of television, such as discussing your favorite shows. Given the suddenness of this interview and the intense public interest, though, we wanted to at least let you know that this broadcast is coming.

Above all, our thoughts are with everyone who has been deeply affected by the events of the past 24 hours, and we hope that the protests will be peaceful so that there is not any further bloodshed.
