‘Dancing with the Stars’ 19 results: Was Bethany Mota, Janel Parrish, Lea Thompson victim of shock elimination?

Early on during Monday night’s new episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” host Tom Bergeron teased that there was going to be a shocking elimination that would happen by the time the episode was over.

When we heard that Tommy Chong was safe, that was basically confirmed far quicker than we thought that it would be. We’re not entirely sure who is voting for him, but at the same time, we cannot be that upset about it. He’s a fun dancer and presence on the show; he’s also at least trying, and he is older than many of the other contestants this season combined. (Specifically, he’s significantly older than Bethany Mota, Janel Parrish, and Sadie Robertson put together.)

Of course, the show made you wait until late in the show for the results to be revealed. Who was it who was sent home? In the end … Lea Thompson.

Now, a bone to pick with the producers of the show. Was this really that big of a shock? We would have been stunned if someone like Sadie Robertson or Janel Parrish went home, given that Lea had a professional dancer who was new to the American version of the show, and most of her fans were older. Meanwhile, Sadie has a huge “Duck Dynasty” following, Janel the “Pretty Little Liars” army, and Bethany Mota all of her YouTube subscribers.

In the end, this season is shaping up almost like we thought that we would, with the only real exception being that we never thought Tommy would still be here.
