‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7 video: Kurt Sutter, Charlie Hunnam take you through Jax’s journey

Jax -Tonight, the final ride of “Sons of Anarchy” continues, and this could be the time when Jax Teller really starts to take stock in his life. What has he become? Basically, he’s Clay; he never will want to admit it, but he has become to use violence and intimidation as the same crutch. Basically, he is a man who JT would never want to recognize.

In the video below, creator Kurt Sutter and star Charlie Hunnam detail the whirlwind journey that Jax has been on so far this season, and why it was precisely so difficult for the character to acknowledge his transformation. Just look at the varying factors that are presently weighing down on him. He has the pressure of leading the club, and his misconceptions about Tara’s murder have focused him entirely on the idea of revenge. There’s that classic saying that “nothing you do will bring her back,” but he’s not thinking that way. You often don’t in a situation of great grief. You’re looking for that fix, and to survive in any way you can.

Basically, Jax is choosing vengeance over reality, and he is refusing to look at the forest through the trees. In turn, Bobby is on the cusp of death, Juice may be killed in prison, and Gemma is left alone wondering when her time will come as a result of her actions.

The deeper and deeper we get into this season, the clearer it becomes that even if Jax has this moment of introspection now, he is too far gone. We wondered at one point if this was a guy who could be redeemed and have something resembling a happy end to his story. That seems now to be far on the other side of horizon.
