‘Game of Thrones’ season 5: Charles Dance lands new role on Syfy miniseries

Tywin -Well, it appears as though we are not going to be without Charles Dance on TV for a very long time at all.

The actor was delightfully terrifying on “Game of Thrones” in the role of Tywin Lannister, but (SPOILER ALERT) was killed off during the season finale in a pretty unfortunate manner: While on the toilet, and at the hands of the son he resented tremendously in Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

Well, we know now that Dance is joining the upcoming six-part Syfy miniseries enittled “Childhood’s End,” where he will be playing the part of Karellen. He is the ambassador of a mysterious group known as the Overloads. They invade earth in a seemingly-peaceful manner, and hopefully the presence of this character will further showcase their true intentions.

For “Childhood’s End,” this has to be considered a tremendous get. Dance brings an air of gravitas to almost any role that he takes on, and during “Game of Thrones” he was one of the most consistently-underrated performers. He just didn’t get the same amount of attention as King Joffrey, mostly because he wasn’t so overtly awful to everyone he came in contact with. He was far more content to be the puppetmaster, pulling the strings with a smile on his face from far away. He didn’t feel much pressure to be the guy trying to operate things in the forefront.

Is it possible that Dance could still come back to HBO for an episode? The actor recently hinted that it is possible, which we suppose would be in the form of either some sort of flashback (rare for this show) or dream sequence.
