‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Time change for extended ‘Smash the Mirror’

Once -ABC just cannot make up their mind right now when it comes to “Smash the Mirror,” which is the special two-hour edition of “Once Upon a Time” that is airing on Sunday, November 16. First, the news came out that this was airing early at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time; however, that has now smartly changed (most likely due to football overruns), and this episode is not going to air at 8:00 p.m. instead. It will run straight through to 10:00, which means that “Revenge” will receive the benefit of their ratings more so than “Resurrection.”

As for another clarification right now, we hear that the extra hour for this episode is the “one episode that was picked up” by ABC in an announcement yesterday. Therefore, there will still technically be 22 weeks this season that contain new episodes, and you’re not going to be deprived one later on just because this one is two hours.

ABC also did another rare thing today and released the full synopsis for this episode, which is something that they don’t typically do for “Once Upon a Time” until six or so days before they air:

“In Arendelle when the Snow Queen tries to pit Elsa and Anna against each other and it proves more difficult than she anticipates, she takes drastic measures. Meanwhile, in Storybrooke Emma’s powers are out of control and her fear of hurting loved ones pushes her away from everyone she cares about. In her confusion Emma turns to Gold for help getting her powers under control. Gold tells her about a way to get rid of her powers altogether and Hook tries to put a stop to it. Robin Hood recruits Will Scarlet to assist him on a mission and Mary Margaret and David search for Emma.”

This one is at least fairly vague, and we imagine that it was written as such to get the word out about the two hours and the new start time without giving anything major away in the process.
