‘Shark Tank’ preview: EmergenSee, Honeyfund, The Oilerie, BeatBox Beverages, and a Breathometer update
Friday night marks another new opportunity to dive into the “Shark Tank,” and based on the products we’re seeing be teased, it looks as though we’re going to have everything from a smartphone for security, a new form of wine, and even a way to save more money for after the wedding. A little bit of a twist there, huh?
Also, you’re going to have a cameo appearance from Jimmy Kimmel for some reason, which you can see in the promo below. It shouldn’t take long, other than just getting a few assorted laughs. Also, take a look at the attached synopsis for additional details:
“A man from Egg Harbor, Wisconsin touts olive oil bars where you can sample the oil before purchasing; a couple from Sebastapol, California tries to sell the Sharks on a unique wedding registry geared towards saving for the honeymoon; a new product from two Phoenixville, Pennsylvania men can turn a smartphone into a personal security device, live-streaming video and audio to your contacts for rescue with just one tap; a boxed wine geared to millenials from three Austin, Texas entrepreneurs, and a follow up on Breathometer, a deal from season 5 that almost all the Sharks invested in. The product is a Breathalyzer that works with a smart phone to tell if you are over the legal limit.”
It’s hard to give a full analysis on each product without seeing them on the show, but here is our first take on many of them. (Update: You can also read our full review now!)
BeatBox Beverages – Cocktails with a twist, and with some pretty bright, colorful, and themed packaging. It may be a good idea, but this seems like a fairly limited market since you need to be 21 to drink, and we cannot really see anyone older than 29 or 30 really being down for buying this at a store.
EmergenSee – An app that seems to be designed to be used for emergency situations, where you can send out live streaming video of yourself in a given situation to people who can help. We’re not extremely app-proficient, but we can see just from their website alone that this company probably has a heavy price tag.
Honeyfund – We really like the setup of their website, and it makes it very easy to set up a registry fund for your honeymoon. We don’t deny that it is a great product, but is it something you can invest in? Given that you need customers to get an upgraded package in order to make money, we’re not sure.
The Oilerie – If you really love olive oil, this is the place for you! Given their number of locations, they’ve got something going here. We just know that we’d have to be an extreme foodie to go this far out of our way to get olive oil. We’re not sure we could do it.
We’ll have a full review up tomorrow over at this link, so be on the lookout for that! Also, sign up to score some additional TV updates on all we cover via our official newsletter. (Photo via ABC.)
