‘Hart of Dixie’ season 4: Wilson Bethel’s new gig signals likely end for show

Wade -While it has not been officially confirmed yet that “Hart of Dixie” season 4 will be the show’s last, the latest news coming out today largely suggests now that the writing is very much on the wall.

According to Deadline, Wilson Bethel has joined the new ABC series “The Astronaut Wives Club” as Scott Carpenter, the famed astronaut and husband to Yvonne Strahovski’s character. For those wondering how this is even logistically possible, “Hart of Dixie” season 4 recently wrapped filming, and since Bethel is only appearing in eight out of ten episodes of the new show, he will be able to make all of this work without much of a problem … at least for now.

The larger question we wonder is what in the world happens if both these shows are renewed, but that is unlikely to happen. Given the ratings success of “The Flash,” coupled with the weak performance of “Hart of Dixie” on Fridays, it seems much more likely that BlueBell will go into the sunset. Bethel’s own recent comments on Twitter signal that the story is in fact at an end. If true, there’s still nothing to be sad about. The show lasted a good four seasons, which isn’t bad for any show, especially one that never had an enormous audience in the first place.

Both “The Astronaut Wives Club” and “Hart of Dixie” will premiere at some point next year, so the reality here is that you could actually see him on two separate shows within the span of a week. Let’s hope you love Wilson on the air!

What do you think about this new casting for Wilson, and do you take this as even more of an obvious sign that the doors are likely closing on “Hart of Dixie”?
