’24’ season 10: Does Yvonne Strahovski’s latest casting rule her out?

If there is a tenth season of “24,” you have to wonder whether or not the latest news could inhibit her involvement in it.

According to a new report from HitFix, Yvonne Strahovski has signed on to play one of the main characters in ABC’s “Astronaut Wives Clubs,” a midseason entry with a title that really gives you a pretty good sense of what the story will be about. Her character is Rene Carpenter, wife of Mercury astronaut Scott Carpenter. The series is set in the age where astronauts were all the rage, and these women worked to navigate their families’ lives at home while dealing with sudden celebrity. Rene works as a source of support for many of the other wives, and has quite a modern sensibility about her.

This does mark a “Chuck” reunion of sorts for Yvonne, given that the NBC hit’s executive producer Josh Schwartz currently serves as a co-executive producer on the new series. It’s also a “Dexter” reunion in a way given that Desmond Harrington is a cast member here, though to be fair it’s not like Hannah McKay and Joey Quinn spent a ton of time together.

In going back to “24,” the thing to remember here is that we don’t know if there will even be a tenth season for sure, or if it will be a movie or in some other form. We also don’t know when it would film. It’s possible that “Astronaut Wives Club” could go away very quickly, or the schedules between the two line up in a way where she could do both. This is all assuming that Kate Morgan would even be on “24,” which we’re hoping for because the character is awesome.
