‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: Will we see any Rickon Stark?

Any “Game of Thrones” or George R.R. Martin fan knows that there is quite a bit of fun to be had when it comes to Rickon Stark, and how he seems to disappear from the story after having a role early on.

While we won’t spoil the book for those who have no read it, in the show the youngest Stark disappeared during season 3 with Osha, and has not been seen or heard from since. Will this change in season 5? It doesn’t sound like it. Speaking to Flicks in the City in a new interview, actor Art Parkinson explained that you won’t be seeing Rickon at all during the new season, at least based on everything that has been filmed so far.

Are we surprised by this? Hardly, though we do feel like this is a character who will return at some point in the show’s run. Why introduce Rickon if he serves no purpose at all? It’s a very interesting question, and we want to give Martin a little bit of credit here.

This news comes after the surprising announcement that Bran Stark is not going to be a focus at all during the fifth season, which may make a little sense given that this storyline is basically over in the books right now. Still, this is something that we worried about a little bit right now, given that there is no official date release date for the sixth book in the series.
