‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: Key Lena Headey scene filmed after controversy

The latest -For those wondering whether or not we are going to see a pivotal Cersei Lannister scene on “Game of Thrones” season 5, one that you may have heard about a few times already, we may now have an answer for you. (Warning: Book spoilers ahead. We do still try to leave some of the context out of it, though.)

The HBO series has been wrapping up filming in Croatia this week, and recently, photos across the internet have surfaced showing Lena Headey doing what is known as the “walk of penance.” It is a scene that is so controversial that there was opposition from a church in Dubrovnik, mostly because of how it would require the actress to disrobe. Typically, we try to not disclose many book series in CarterMatt articles, but this is a little bit of a special case due mostly to how this became a pretty public story.

It seemed pretty clear a while back that this scene was going to be filmed despite the initial opposition, mostly because showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss made it clear that they had figured out how to do it without angering anyone else.

“Game of Thrones” also films in Northern Ireland, Spain, Iceland, and in other assorted locations. The new season will premiere on HBO come spring 2015, though no precise date has been announced just yet. Just know that there are many other notable scenes for these characters still to come.
