‘True Detective’ season 2 spoilers: The latest casting rumors surface

HBO logoBy the time “True Detective” season 2 is finally cast, we may be hitting the one-year anniversary of the show’s first season actually airing.

So far, the biggest names rumored to be attached to the project include Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch, but given what we’re hearing right now, maybe none of those names are that set in stone. For a while, it appeared as though Elisabeth Moss was set up well to be the favorite to play the female lead on the show, a tough but troubled police officer who gets wrapped up in the larger story. However, that may no longer be the case.

According to The Huffington Post,  both “The Killing” alum Michelle Forbes and also Rachel McAdams of “The Notebook” have also been rumored to be playing the part. Given the level of competition here, it is pretty clear that HBO has no shortage of quality candidates in the slightest. Instead, the issue here may just be trying to figure out who is best for the role, and who may be out of the running.

We do expect there to be some sort of official announcement soon for the future of the show, largely because there is only so long that this cast be withheld if HBO wants viewers to remember the show is still out there. We’re predicting a premiere date will come in the summer of next year, and that would mean that filming would need to start either early next year or late this fall.
